THE WORLD AFFAIRS COUNCIL OF GREATER READING is a non-profit, non-partisan organization committed to advocating our community's awareness of international issues and the common interests we share with the rest of the world.
The Council offers the opportunity to participate in today's global policy issues and become better informed about the state of the world and U.S. foreign policy.
WAC of Greater Reading receives a new grant
We have just received notice of a grant from the Nuclear Threat Initiative which will
allow us to present a program, "Nuclear Tipping Point."  Other Councils that received
similar grants include South Dakota,  Philadelphia, Houston, Savannah, and Hilton Head.

Leon Shahabian serves as Vice President and Corporate Treasurer of Layalina Productions. He has executive produced the reality series On The Road in America Season I (2007-08 MBCI and the Sundance Channel, distributed by Warner Brothers and New Line Television), Season II (2010, MBCI) and Season III (2011).He is currently in pre-production of the first season of American Caravan, a show featuring four young Americans traveling across thirteen Arab countries. He is also pre-producing Crossroads of History, a mini-series on Afghanistan’s history.

Leon is the Senior Editor of The Layalina Review on Public Diplomacy and Arab Media, a Google News listed bi-weekly press review. He is also Senior Editor of Perspectives, a monthly op-ed series. Leon joined Layalina in March 2002 as a founding staff member.

Leon has appeared on CNN, CNN International, Reuters Television, Al-Arabiya and Al-Jazeera. He is a working group member of the Global Intersections Initiative (GII), a project of the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) and Meridian International Center. He is a life member of The Public Diplomacy Council.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Penn State University with Bachelors of Arts degrees in International Politics and French Literature, Leon is fluent in Armenian, Arabic, and French.

Mr. Ashok Shukla
Mr. Shukla was born and educated in India and holds an MBA from Temple University. In 2004, he retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and has been teaching courses on Hinduism, Macro and Micro Economics at Penn State Harrisburg and the Harrisburg Area Community College. He has lectured on the Hindu religion at Temple University and many other schools, churches, and business groups in the Philadelphia and Harrisburg areas.
 
He is a founding member of the Hindu Religious Institute (HARI Temple) in Harrisburg. He is currently active with the Interfaith Society of Harrisburg and the Interfaith Services Board at Harrisburg Hospital.
