HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION
The World Affairs Council of Greater Reading was founded in the late 1960'a as The Foreign Policy Group. The local group affiliated with The World Affairs Councils of America in the mid-1980's.
DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANIZATION
The World Affairs Council of Greater Reading is a non-profit, non-paritsan organization committed to advocating our community's awareness of international issues and the common interests we share with the rest of the world.
The mission of the World Affairs Council of Greater Reading is to create and sustain an intelligent interest in international affairs on the art of Berks County citizens and promote their awareness of world-wide economics, political, and cultural events.

- SPONSORS MONTHLY LUNCHEONS and/or BREAKFASTS
- SPONSORS THE FOREIGN POLICY ASSOCIATION GREAT DECISIONS
- SPONSORS LOCAL WORLD QUEST COMPETITION
- SPONSORS ANNUAL WASHINGTON D.C. BUS TRIP TO VISIT AN EMBASSY
- PROMOTES AND SUBSIDIZED LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT THE LUNCHEONS
